Dr. Mary-Elizabeth Brown
Dr. Mary-Elizabeth Brown enjoys parallel careers as a violinist, pedagogue and entrepreneur. In concert, she has delighted audiences around the world with her “ability to unfold bittersweet magic” (Rhein Main Presse) and “impeccable accuracy and rhythmic precision” (Le Devoir). Her recording of the last 3 Mozart Violin Concerti for the new edition of the Mozart Effect recordings were released worldwide in 2017. She holds the Ottawa Symphony’s Bielak-Hartmann Concertmaster chair.
Equally at home as a pedagogue, Mary-Elizabeth is a sought-after teacher, adjudicator and speaker. She was one of the first musicians to repurpose videoconferencing technology to provide instruction to violinists and teachers in remote areas and developing countries, and has since taught more than 4000 webcam lessons to students around the world. She is a member of both the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the Royal Conservatory of Music’s College of Examiners.
Dr. Brown will be presenting High-Tech Teaching: Using Technology to Reach More Young Musicians at the 2019 International Music Education Summit and is excited to share ideas with you this year.
